When the temperature drops below 65°C, it will then allow the user for the re-selection of the modes.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output mode, the battery level indicator blinks to remind you to timely recharge or replace the battery.

Note: This only works with Fenix ARB-LP3000 Li-polymer battery.

Headband Assembly

  1. The headband is factory assembled by default.
  2. Adjust the headband by sliding the buckle to required length.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality Fenix battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Lock the lamp or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance as dirty contacts may cause the lamp to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: The battery needs replacing.
Solution: Replace battery (Ensure battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The contact point or contact of the battery or headlamp is dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact the distributor.

Warning

  • The headlamp is a high-intensity lighting device capable of causing eye damage to the user or others. Avoid shining the lamp directly into anyone’s eyes.
  • This headlamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used for extended periods, resulting in high temperature of the headlamp. Pay attention to safe use to avoid scalding.
  • The LED of this headlamp is not replaceable; so the entire lamp should be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its life.

I own 4 of them. The battery last a long time and in a pinch you can swap for AA’s. Super bright.

Worthy replacment (& upgrade) to my old HP15UE!

I was happy with the old HP15UE with the back of the head "AA" battery pack, but its time had come & I did my research & discovered the HP16R was the closest item currently available.
I've had it a couple of weeks now & given it a test drive nightly walking the dog in an unlit rural area.
The flood LED is considerably better than the old headlamps tightish beam & more than adequate for power when handling things even on its lower powers. Cranked up its illuminating most of my .67 acre yard too.
The focused beam is similar to the old lamp & instantly available at the press of its own button. It does have noticeably more power at the high end too.
The red low intensity lamp is good for retaining night vision & not overpowering as some are. Its also accessed with the low poer LED button simply by pressing it again.
I've read a couple of independent reviews before buying & was surprised they stated the old "S - O - S" flash wasn't available in the new unit. That's just not so! It has "moved" though. Its now a second mode on the red LED, similar to the use in the E03R Mk2 key-chain light.
The cabling is better organized IMO than the earlier headlight too, it drags to the side less.
The new LiPo battery is lighter than 4X "AA" batteries & so the unit balances better! How long does it last per charge? I don't know, but in excess of 2 weeks even using both LEDs together on medium high settings! The built-in battery check light still shows flashing green (50~85% charged)! If the LiPo drains you can use the "old Faithfull "AA" batteries as well, but in a slightly reduced range of (still perfectly adequate) settings though. The faster for the battery compartment is improved also, its now a cam-lock lever rather than a big bolt. Quicker & easier to use & less strain on the latch & housing.
The rear face of the battery box has several reflective patches as does the strap, & a glow-in-the-dark one showing "AA" polarity! Good thinking as you'll probably be swapping to them in the dark!
My two, minor, unfavorable comparison with the older unit would be the tilting & the battery level indicator positioning. The mount bracket acts as a safety, blocking the control buttons when in its highest position, as do the buttons themselves with a "Lock Out" feature that's been added, but the shape of the bracket & of the actual light housing is slimmer than the old one, this makes it a little harder to grab & tilt when wearing. Its a minor thing though, but worth mentioning. The Green-Flashing Green-Red-Flashing state of charge indicator is atop the light housing. It works fine as does the on on my key-ring light, but if like me, you put it on your head then turn on you never see it because it above your eyes & on the other side of the housing. Simple fix though if you want to check do it before wearing it.
These two minor items cost the last star on the rating, But I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.
I've added a couple more Glow-in-the-dark patches myself as is my habit. You can see them in the pic. one on the cam lock & another on the shield over the switches, these are not "factory"

Sadly disappointed

To start off this was my first fenix light. I have heard they were very good lights in all aspects. So I purchased the hp16r for a little over a $100 with tax and everything. I don't know if I just got a bad light or what. But to be honest the light is junk. The battery runs down very quick and it seems like it doesn't take a good charge. Even though the green fully charged light comes on. Now I put it on charge and after a few hours the green light comes on but when I try to turn it on the red light on it just blinks and won't come on any mode. I have a Stanley headlamp I've had for 3 years that cost $23 that hands down is 3 times better than this light. I've always heard you get what you pay for. Not in this case. I don't usually leave reviews but after spending this much money and not get a better product than this I felt I needed too.

Sounds like you have the light locked out. It has a lockout function to prevent it from turning on inadvertently.

Lockout Function

Lock: when the lamp is switched off, press and hold either of the two switches, or simultaneously press the two switches for 3 seconds, the lamp will blink red three times to indicate locked status.

Unlock: when the lamp is locked, simultaneously press the two switches for 3 seconds, the lamp will be activated with 3 one-second red blinks and activated on Red Light. In locked status, clicking or pressing the switches will activate 3 one-second red blinks to indicate locked status.

Also, if it seems that the battery is not functioning as expected, please reach out to our warranty team. 888-775-9996 ext 1, or warranty@fenixlighting.com
