Talking Points – Fenix E02R
Ambassador Justin J.
Philosophy of Use
• Keychain flashlight. EDC (Every Day Carry) light. This tiny light is excellent for tossing on a keychain or attaching to a zipper pull. Perfect to carry in a pocket for times when you need a little bit of light.
Size/Weight
• Just under two inches in length, this little guy is tiny. It’s just about the size of a pinky finger. It seriously weighs next to nothing. I’ve carried a ton of keychain lights in my lifetime but this one is there at the top for being super tiny.
LED/Lumens
• Cree XP-G2 S3 white LED. The E02R has a nice wash of light that it emits in a fairly decent sized space out in front. I’ve used it for just about anything and everything around the house.
• 200 lumens from its built-in 120mAh li-polymer battery.
Beam Distance
• 161ft. For such a tiny light it sure does throw quite a bit of light out. You can easily see out in front of you with it on high at 200 lumens.
Functionality
• The 2 brightness levels are super easy to get to just by turning the head. Turn just a little to get low, and then turn a little more for high. Just reverse the order to turn off. It’s that simple. If you keep loosening the head you’ll get to where the micro USB port is and that’s where you charge it. It doesn’t take long either to charge.
Battery/Accessories
• Built in 120mAh li-polymer battery. Micro USB charging cable, key ring, spare O-ring. Fenix always gives you more than what you pay for. Having a spare o-ring is a nice touch! I’m also glad I don’t have to think about batteries with this little light. I can just plug it in.
Durability/Reliability
• Made of durable A6061-T6 aluminum. It’s a stout little light for sure. It has been dropped, kicked, dunked in the washing machine, and it still works. I’ve never had a Fenix product fail on me. They make some tough equipment for sure.
Value
• $23.95. The price is good considering you can also get it in multiple colors. I go the blue and it’s a nice color. I have so many black lights, it’s refreshing to add some color to my lineup.
Final Thoughts
• I personally like twist style keychain lights. However, if you need to have one handed operation then take a look at the Fenix E03R, which has a side switch. I know a lot of doctors who wear a small light on their badge lanyard. They tend to like push buttons more since they are sometimes limited with one hand being occupied.
• I think these little lights make the best gifts to people who are just getting into flashlight technology. Any time I give someone a light like this I always get a text message later in the day saying how bright the light is. They usually want to see what other options are available from there.
• The E02R is definitely typical Fenix quality. You get a higher level of craftsmanship from a Fenix product. They never cut curves. They do it right the first time, every time.
• I’m glad to see Fenix get into the color options on these little lights. My wife likes anything other than the traditional black style that is common in flashlights. The kids like the colors too.
• Overall, I’m getting to the point where I have more Fenix keychain lights on my keyring than actual keys. The best part though is in knowing I’ll never be in the dark! I’m glad Fenix takes the extra time to make a quality product. It shows in every light they make.
