LD02 V2.0 Philosophy of Use

• Super compact penlight used for EDC (Every Day Carry).
o I use it in this capacity a lot. It’s very easy to toss into a pocket and forget about it until you need it.
• Great for medical professionals who are in search of a warm tone (high CRI) light.

o Tiny and compact enough to hide in a shirt pocket or store away in a briefcase for work. I carry mine in my shirt pocket all the time and never know it’s there until I need it.

o It weighs just as much as about 4 quarters! Super lightweight.

LED/Lumens/UV Light

• Cree XQ-E HI LED (90-CRI/3000K warm white light) with a lifespan of 50,000 hours
• High – 70 Lumens
o This is more than bright enough to move about the house in the dark and be able to see just fine. 70 lumens can sometimes be too bright depending on how well your eyes are adjusted to the dark. When that is the case there is also the medium and low settings.
• Medium – 25 Lumens
• Low – 1 lumen
• UV – 200mW
o I use UV light a lot in our garden. It helps me find the tomato worms since they stand out like a sore thumb under UV light. This helps us keep our tomato plants throughout the year from being destroyed. UV will also make scorpions stand out too. UV is great to have when running a cleaning service as it can point out certain germs on surfaces.

Beam Distance

• I use this light sometimes to walk the dog at night and have no problem seeing a good distance out in front of me. It’s not a spotlight by any means so if you need something with a little longer throw then take a look at its bigger brother the LD05 which is a little brighter and throws light a little bit further. Fenix carries an array of other lights that can turn the dark into day in case you need more lighting options.

Functionality of the LD02 V2.0

• Fully press the tail switch to turn on/off the light.
• With the light switched on, tap the tail switch to cycle through Low→Med→High→UV.
• Cycling through the output options is very simple and easy to use. I’ve found this light remembers the last mode it was set to before turning it off. I use the UV a lot so anytime I press the switch I immediately get UV light since it was the last mode I used. This is handy for those who like to have their lights programed a certain way every time they power them on.

Battery/Accessories

• One AAA alkaline (included) or one Ni-MH battery
• The 1 lumen mode will run up to roughly 45 hours without issue which makes this a great light to keep in a pocket to use around the house late at night.
• One of the greater aspects is the battery choice. Triple A batteries can be found anywhere, and they are relatively inexpensive too. No need to worry about finding harder to find batteries with this light.

o I don’t think I’ve seen a Fenix light that cut corners in their anodizing. The finish is impeccable and truly a work of art. The LD02 lives up to the standards of every other Fenix light. If you look at the threads when removing the head, you’ll see threads that are thick and not made thin like other companies. This aids in keeping the light watertight and gives you the peace of mind in knowing it’ll last in the pouring rain. Mine has been 100% reliable since day 1.

Final Thoughts

• I tend to lean more toward lights with a higher CRI and this little light clocks in at 90 CRI which means it has a nice warm tint to it. I find I like a higher CRI light to use at night around the house since it’s very easy on the eyes, especially when getting out of the bed in the middle of the night to get a glass of water or visit the bathroom. The color rendition is simply amazing and one you’ll have to see for yourself. The outdoor colors just pop with the higher CRI.
• The battery choice is a clear winner for me. You can’t go wrong with batteries that are easily found in gas stations or local grocery stores. Everyone needs a good AA, or AAA light on hand.
