Product Overview

At only 4.53” long, the Fenix TK05R Tactical EDC Flashlight is almost 25% smaller than our standard tactical flashlights, which makes it a great everyday carry size. But don’t worry about sacrificing size for performance. This compact light produces an intense, concentrated beam that can throw a maximum of 1000 lumens 1476 feet—almost 500 yards. This fierce beam can even penetrate optical barriers like tinted glass. Dual tail switches operate three brightness levels and strobe. USB Type-C charging and a battery level indicator are built into the body. The flashlight is rated IP68 waterproof and dustproof, and the charging port includes inner waterproofing. An incredibly long throw in a small, compact size, makes this the one to own for both EDC and tactical use—a great backup light for law enforcement!

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the light tail and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the light tail back on.

Charging

  1. Open the anti-dust cover to reveal the charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the flashlight.
  2. The indicator will display red while charging, and will turn to green when fully charged.
  3. Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and close the anti-dust cover.

Note:

  1. When charging fails or the battery is inserted backward, the battery indicator will flash red to remind the user to check the battery.
  2. The normal charging time of the flashlight is approximately 1.5 hours from depleted to fully charged. The flashlight cannot be operated while charging.
  3. Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain the optimum performance of the battery.
  4. If the battery level indicator blinks or fails to operate, please check out the battery. It is strictly prohibited to charge the flashlight while using a CR123A battery.

*Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100P battery, a Fenix ARB-L16-800UP battery, or a Fenix ARB-L16-700UP battery.

Battery level indication

Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will show the current battery level and will last for 3 seconds.

Green light on: saturated 100% - 85%

Green light flashes: sufficient 85% - 50%

Red light on: poor 50% - 25%

Red light flashes: critical 25% - 1%

*Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100P battery, a Fenix ARB-L16-800UP battery, or a Fenix ARB-L16-700UP battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 55°C/131°F or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 55°C/131°F, the light automatically recalls the previously used output level.

Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens in Low output, the battery level indicator blinks red to remind you to replace or recharge the battery.

*Note: This feature only works with a Fenix ARB-L18-1100 battery, a Fenix ARB-L18-1100P battery, a Fenix ARB-L16-800UP battery, or a Fenix ARB-L16-700UP battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the light and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the light will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the light could be damaged by electrolyte leakage or battery explosion.
  • Remove the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the light's performance as dirty contacts may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate for the following reasons:
    A: Poor battery level.
Solution: Replace or recharge the battery (Ensure the battery is inserted according to the manufacturer’s specifications).
B: The threads, PCB board contact or other contacts are dirty.
Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Warnings

  • Do NOT place this flashlight in the reach of children!
  • Do NOT shine the flashlight directly into the eyes of anyone!
  • Do NOT place light head near flammable objects, high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite!
  • Do NOT use the flashlight in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth, doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the flashlight or internal battery fails!
  • This flashlight will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the flashlight shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns.
  • Loosen the tail cap or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • The LED of this flashlight is not replaceable; so the whole flashlight will need to be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its lifespan.

What kind of LED is used in TK05R? Does Fenix offer to replace LED?

A: One Luminus OSRAM KW CSLPM1.TG LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours.

Fenix does not provide LED replacement services for the time being, and users are not recommended to replace the LEDs independently, which may affect product performance and cause product damage.

What is the working voltage of TK05R?

A: The operating voltage is 3.0 V-4.2V. Limit operating voltage range: 3.0V to 5.5V.

What kind of battery can be used in TK05R?

A: It is recommended to use a Fenix 18350 Li-ion battery. Other Li-ion batteries are not recommended. As an unmatched battery may cause the flashlight to fail to work normally.

How to prevent accidentally activate the TK05R?

A: Unscrew the light head, or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation.

What is the meaning of the flashlight's 5.3° luminous angle?

A: The center light angle of the flashlight is a reflection of the flashlight's ability to gather light, the smaller the center light angle, indicating that the flashlight more light gathering, the same brightness, the longer the range will be.

Why does the TK05R downshift to a lower mode after being used for a while and the higher mode cannot be selected?

A: There are two reasons:

1. Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the light reaches a temperature of 55°C or above, the light will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature.

2. Low-voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the flashlight is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until the Low mode is reached.

What is the APF?

A: Traditional forward switches are limited by current, and it is difficult to achieve brightness above 2000 lumens. In the age of 21700 batteries gradually expanding, 3000 lumens tactical flashlights are almost impossible; while the flashlight using APF technology can.

Make the functional tail cap simpler. Traditional multi-function tail cap needs to achieve functional through the double-layer body or additional channels ; and the flashlight using APF technology offering a strong reliable flashlight in simple structure, we talking about single layer body if specifically.

Better anti-interference performance. Complex external environments such as strong magnetic fields are easily dealt through stronger anti-interference ability.

Why does the TK05R happen to flicker?

A: The reasons that may cause the light to flicker, shine intermittently or even fail to illuminate:

1. Poor battery level.

Solution: Recharge or replace the battery.

2. The contact or contact point of the battery or flashlight is dirty.

Solution: Clean the contact points with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

If the above methods don't work, please contact your authorized distributor.

Best EDC light out there.

Absolutely love everyone of my Fenix lights. All are solid and super bright. I highly recommend a Fenix to anyone

Great light

The hotspot intensity on the 1K lumen TK05R is right up there with the 3k lumen TK20R V2 and it absolutely crushes the 2.8K lumen PD36R Pro. Don't let this light's size or cute appearance fool you. This is a serious tool. Battery life is short. I bought a spare 18350 from Fenix Lighting when I bought the light. The battery that shipped inside the light is a slightly longer protected button top while the spare is a shorter flat top cell. The light works with both styles of cells equally well. All my other Fenix lights have been anodized but this light appears to be cerakoted. There's pros and cons to both finishes. Time will tell if it holds up but it's not looking good. The finish has already started to chip. The strike bezel on this light is integrated as one piece with the flashlight head and is made of the same aluminum as the rest of the light. I would prefer the strike bezel be a separate piece and be made of a tougher material than aluminum in the same manner as the rest of the Fenix TK model series. This is an unwelcome reduction in quality and performance.

So the battery that comes in the light is the ARB-L18-1100 button top. We do not yet have inventory of just the battery, but expect it in the near future. The battery you ordered is the ARB-L18-1100P flat top, which is the battery that comes in the GL19R weapon light. We do have this battery in stock, and have confirmed that it works in the TK05R also. We are not sure why the manufacturer did the batteries this way, but when we first received inventory for the TK05R we did confirm that the 1100P flat top battery also works in that light.
