Portable Power House, the LR35R
Ambassador John P.
Throughout my life I’ve had the opportunity to own many types of flashlights ranging in all shapes and sizes.
More times than not I always find myself wanting more out of my lights. Either more spill, more throw, more lumens, or longer battery life.
Well ladies and gentlemen the light that checks all of my boxes has finally arrived. I’m pleased to introduce the Fenix LR35R. At only 5.5 inches long this light has everything I’ve been looking for and more!
Starting with the power, Fenix raised the bar and engineered this light to utilize (2) 21700 batteries vs using the smaller 18650 power cells.
Meaning you’ll get longer run times. It comes equipped with 2 (4000 mAh) cells, If you want even longer run times opt for the 5000 mAh cells.
For those of you worried about how much juice you have left the LR35R has a built in battery indicator with Green & Red lights. If you’re in wet environments often, rest assured the LR35R is IP68 rated.
This light comes equipped with a type-C charging cable and a built in charging port which are extremely handy when you’re on the go or don’t have a battery charger handy. If you’re in a hurry the LR35R can be fully charged in as little as 3 hours and 35 minutes.
Another great thing about this light are the Lumens and the throw. This light has 5 different settings and on Turbo mode you can expect a jaw dropping Ten-Thousand Lumens! Per Fenix’s website, expect to get roughly an hour and 25 minutes of run time on Turbo with a throw distance of 500 meters, That’s Absolutely Insane!
Lumens and Distance are as follows:
50 Lumens – 80 Hours
450 Lumens – 8 Hours/20 min
1200 Lumens – 3 hours/15 min
3000 Lumens – 1 Hour/35 min
10,000 Lumens – 1 Hour/25 min
The beam pattern on this light really amazed me, It has a wide beam angle with a perfect balance of throw and spill that will satisfy even the pickiest of consumers.
Who is this light for? This light is perfect for someone who needs the extra raw power for search and rescue or just enough light for map reading inside a tent.
The light temperature doesn’t emit a lot of blue color which I really appreciate, I personally like the 5-6K range as it doesn’t wash out the surrounding area.
For those of you who like to camp and hike but don’t feel like carrying your LR35R in hand, Fenix has got you covered on both fronts.
First the LR35R comes with a slimline belt clip or you can use the included holster which can attach to an array of objects, i.e. molle webbing, belt loop, etc.
The one and only ding I could give this light and it’s a subjective one, is that I wish Fenix had installed a tail switch on on the back like the TK35, again just my opinion.
Other than that this flashlight is well built and feels solid and in the hand. It definitely scores a 10 out of 10 with me and I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.
If you’re in the market for a portable powerhouse with good battery life and an excellent mix of flood and throw, this is the light for you.
Happy Trails,
John Petersen
